Acrylic on panel 2020

“Memory has always been central to my work. I look at the world around me in terms of light and shade, colour and composition, movement and stillness. My earliest memories are as a baby in my cot, watching patterned shadow shimmer on walls and streetlight, or early morning sun, filtering over the top of the curtains into the semi-darkness of the room. That flickering, changing light still intrigues me and I seem to have spent my entire life trying to recall elements of those early impressions of the world. I work with water-based paints and when pools of paint collect, pigment splits or paper buckles, I go with it.”
